Owner Paolo Pedrazzani and his wife Mara Gerloni, Ph.D, moved to San Diego from Milan, Italy in 1993. Paolo opened Via Italia Trattoria aiming to provide a real and outstanding Italian dining experience for his customers. After several years in the business, Paolo is proud to have reached what he aimed to achieve. As a matter of fact, Via Italia is not just a Trattoria, but offers everything an extraordinary restaurant can offer, such as catering events, wine dinners, authentic Italian food and contemporary music. It simply has it all! Since its opening in 1997, Via Italia has received several recognitions such as: “Best Italian Restaurant” by San Diego Magazine in both 2001 and 2002, the Reviewer Bon Appetit section of Westway in 2002, ranked Via Italia as “The Favorite Italian Restaurant in Southern California.” It was recognized as the “Very Best Italian Food in San Diego” by the Night and Day section of the San Diego Union Tribune.
